Soon after news hit of 2 lawsuits documenting police brutality and rampant Freedom of Press violations, city council members are calling for federal oversight of the NYPD.
As I just reported 2 lawsuits have just been filed containing extensive evidence of repeated and rampant crimes committed by the NYPD against elected officials, “mainstream” journalists, civilian journalists, Occupy Wall Street protestors and even elected officials.
Occupy Wall Street Files 2 Lawsuits Against NYPD Full Of Incriminating Evidence
Two separate lawsuits have been filed against the NYPD for repeated violations of the constitutional rights of both protestors and media outlets trying to report on the movement.

City Council Members Make Federal Case Out Of Demand For NYPD Monitor
Lawmakers cite alleged police misconduct at Occupy Wall St. protests
Four City Council members are demanding a federal monitor for the NYPD because of alleged police brutality at Occupy Wall Street protests.
In a suit filed Monday in Manhattan Federal Court, the lawmakers also seek unspecified monetary damages.
Councilman Ydanis Rodriguez of Manhattan said his rights to observe the protests were violated when he was bloodied and arrested as police cleared Zuccotti Park last November.
“The NYPD has to be more accountable,” he said at news conference on the steps City Hall. “The City Council has the right to be observers, and this is something that has been violated on a number of occasions.”
The other plaintiffs are Council members Letitia James of Brooklyn, Melissa Mark-Viverito of Manhattan and Jumaane Williams of Brooklyn.
The lawsuit also alleges civil rights violations on behalf of nearly a dozen Occupy Wall Street protesters who were arrested by police.
Half of those say they were arrested while covering the protests as “citizen journalists.”
Another plaintiff, Iraq War veteran Jeffrey McClain, said two of his ribs were fractured when he was busted by baton-wielding cops on a disorderly conduct charge.

Just a note though. Don’t they look foolish caught up in all that hypocrisy? I’m glad I won’t remember this when it is finally over.
