This symbol is known as the staff of Hermes and used by the medical.
The true meaning of the staff of Hermes is the symbol of evolution depicted as kundalini (consciousness) rises up the chakras of the etheric body of all humans. The irony of the usage of this symbol by the medical shows how little they really know about it. People confuse the ‘snake’ wrapped around it as something sinister when it is just the uncoiled strands of consciousness rising up and this may also be considered the symbol of what is known today as ascension.
Now if you note carefully on the staff of Hermes there are 2 snakes or serpents and this symbolises the 2 poles. Carl Yung calls this the ‘Creatura’ which is the distinctiveness or 2 sides of the creation, and in reality they are one and the same and combined they are the ‘Pleroma’.

Amazing, isn’t it? They believe in exploring the wisdom of separation and here they are struggling against an outcome of their own fabrication–victims of their own intrigue–completely oblivious to the obvious that is apparent to the rest of us. Connected as we are to the One, with some of us even more deeply integrated in Unity, we all understand that this is the way that it will HAVE to be; we get the message. They do not. I find this as odd a revelation as irony can possibly provide but, then again, maybe it’s just the way I am looking at it.
