Some 50 years ago the eminent astrophysicist Sir Fred Hoyle put forth the far-sighted conjecture that our Sun, as it moves through the cosmos, passes through vast clouds of dust. The dust is attracted to the sun (Hoyle called this “tunneling”), falling into the sun via gravity, and is heated to incandescence, thus radiating infra-red heat energy. When passing through a denser cloud it is obvious that more heat is radiated than when the sun is in a dust cloud of lesser density. This natural process explains the many temperature variations, ice-ages, etc., on planet earth over thousands of years. The heat contributed by human activity is tiny by comparison. Thank you.
