Emad Burnat detained on way to Oscars.
Emad Burnat, the Palestinian who co-directed the Academy Award-nominated documentary “5 Broken Cameras,” was reportedly detained at Los Angeles International Airport on Tuesday night as he attempted to enter America to attend the Oscars, this according to filmmaker Michael Moore.
Burnat and his family were eventually released, according to Moore, but not before spending 90 minutes being held by immigration officials. Moore explained what happened to Burant in a series of tweets to his 1.4 million followers:

“5 Broken Cameras” focuses on Burnat, who chronicles several years of his life in the West Bank. From the official Oscars page:
As Israeli settlers begin building homes and erecting a barrier wall in the West Bank village of Bil’in, a Palestinian farm worker documents the town’s resistance to the new settlement. Over the course of several years, the townspeople clash with the Israeli Defense Force, and tensions mount as the wall remains and the building continues.
Israeli officials have said that “5 Broken Cameras” is one of two Israeli documentaries up for an Oscar on Sunday (“The Gatekeepers” being the other), but the origin country of Burnat’s film has been a source of controversy throughout awards season. (“5 Broken Cameras” is a co-production of Israel, Palestine and France.)
“I’m Israeli, Emad is Palestinian, personally I don’t think films should have citizenships,” co-director Guy Davidi told The Electronic Intifada back in January.
“This is a Palestinian film from the heart, from the mind and from the soul,” Burnat said to HuffPost Live earlier this month about the film. “This is a Palestinian documentary.”

Imagine, an OSCAR NOMINEE DETAINED! Because he was Palestininan!!!! yet Five Israelis, dancing with joy as they videotaped the WTC towers burning and falling, were released to go back to the gayest town on earth….Tel Aviv. rg
What it comes down to is this, in America we always seem to have an Israeli problem, an AIPAC problem, and a Hollywood problem. After all Emad Burnat is only a Palestinian and we can harass him if we choose to do so. Hell it took Tarique Ramadan years to get into the free and good old USA. Chuck Hagel Republican American did not kiss the Butt of the Israeli Lobby, and his nomination to the Defense Department has been stalled. Who rules America and the Media?

I can’t quite make up my mind whether this Zionist affront to Americans on the Oscars and the Israeli attack on Hagel for Defense Secretary both occurring during the same week is a result of “hubris/arrogance”, “ignorance”, “desperation” or a combination of all three. I used to try not to lump “Zionists”, “Israeli’s” and “Jews” all together when naming the face of evil. I’m now thinking the really correct grouping is “Zionists”, “Cabal” and “Illuminati” – all one and the same, Whether or not Jewish people are over represented in the upper echelons doesn’t really matter.
I’m thinking “hubris/arrogance” is part of the dynamic, in a reflective knee-jerky way. The Daily Bell website has long postulated the controllers’ “directed history” is falling apart under what they call the “Internet Reformation” – where people can read in real time, such as Michael’ Moore’s tweets what’s going down and make their own conclusions.
And “desperation” surely is in play when an institution widely regarded as “Jewish Hollywood” even nominates a Palestinian film or when a candidate for Defense is on record proclaiming he is not an “Israeli Senator”. And like “Jewish Hollywood” nominating a Palestinian film, Hagel is a right wing Republican from Nebraska who is voted for the Iraq & Afghanistan wars, the “Patriot act”.
Hi Jean
