Now who were THE players behind the birthing of sustainable development? To my surprise, it was Prince Charles.”

By Joan Veon
August 13, 2004
It has been ten years since I have been writing and studying the now established environmental philosophy of sustainable development. I was first confronted with it at the United Nations Conference on Population and Development-UNCED in Cairo, Egypt in 1994. Sustainable development was a core philosophy behind the Programme of Action called “Agenda 21” at the 1992 United Nations Conference on the Environment and Development-UNCED, now dubbed the “Rio Earth Summit.”
In Rio, conference Secretary-General Maurice Strong stated,
Agenda 21 – still stands as the most comprehensive, most far-reaching and, if implemented, the most effective programme of international action ever sanctioned by the international community. It is not a final and complete action programme, but one which must continue to evolve.
Sustainable development has continued to evolve as that of protecting the world’s resources while its true agenda is to control the world’s resources. Communism also has control at its core and it also is evolving. I remember asking former UN Secretary-General Boutros-Boutros Ghali what he meant by “change” and he told me that he was introducing “constant change” as a way to continue the evolutionary processes begun in Rio.
Under the evolutionary process which Agenda 21 set in motion, sustainable development has become like a prism. Every time you turn it, you get a different “color.” The sustainable development prism includes the social, political, economic and environmental factors. Until Rio, the phrase sustainable development had not appeared in any prior UN documents, papers or reference books.
It should be noted that Agenda 21 sets up the global infrastructure needed to manage, count, and control all of the world’s assets. Included are the forests, fresh water, agricultural lands, deserts, pastures, rangelands, farmers’ fields, oceans and inland waterways, marine environment, marine life, cities, housing, sewer and solid wastes, methods of production, air, pollution, biotechnology-every aspect of living-farming, production and manufacturing, research and medicine, etc., along with you and I. Today everything is sustainable: sustainable water, sustainable forests, sustainable markets, sustainable agriculture, etc.

Through advanced technology such as the Geographic Information System (GIS), the control, count and management of the earth’s assets is being implemented. Scientists have told me that the GIS satellites can measure the quality of soil anywhere in the earth to a depth of three inches. Furthermore, it can tell you what kind of birds and insects are in which kind of tree. It can also see you and me sleeping in our beds and living in our houses-ever wonder why leaded paint was such a problem? The UN calls this transparency while you and I call it invasion of privacy.

Invasion of privacy?  Tell me about it!

So how did the UN come up with this heinous agenda? It began in 1972 when the first Earth Summit was held in Stockholm, Sweden. Maurice Strong was the conference Secretary-General of that meeting also. As a result of its deliberations, in 1974 the UN General Assembly set up the UN Environment Program-UNEP, now a major player in sustainable development, interacting with corporations and a key partner in the United Nations Global Compact.
It should be noted that hundreds, if not thousands of environmental NGO’s support and are helping to implement Agenda 21 worldwide. The United Nations has given them vast responsibilities to assist in the implementation of sustainable development. Furthermore, governments are recognizing their manpower as a free source of power to carry the message throughout the world. Two very powerful NGO’s that were part of the birthing of sustainable development are the International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources (IUCN) and the World Wildlife Fund (WWF). In the fall of 1983, the 38th Session of the United Nations General Assembly passed Resolution 38/161, which called upon the secretary-general to appoint a commission “to propose long-term environmental strategies for achieving sustainable development to the year 2000 and beyond.”
The individuals chosen for that commission included Gro Harlem Brundtland, former prime minister of Norway and vice-president of the Socialist International who just retired as Director-General of the World Health Organization. It was William Ruckleshaus from the U.S. who also served on this life-changing commission. The rest of the delegates were from other socialist, Marxist, or communist countries. While I could provide you with their definition of sustainable development which my research shows is based on the 1977 USSR constitution, let me paraphrase:
The world has too many people, and if we do not reduce the number of people on planet Earth, they will use up all of the Earth’s resources so that future generations will be left without any resources. The United Nations is the best global body to monitor, manage and preserve the resources of the planet.
As a community activist ten years ago, I could not understand why our kids were being pushed to use condoms, why the schools were educating in matters that did not involve them, why family planning classes were discussing sensitive matters in front of boys and girls or why homosexuality was becoming accepted (homosexuals don’t procreate-now they only adopt). Furthermore, the schools were assisting abortion clinics by aiding pregnant girls during school hours by providing school time for them to use their facilities, without parental consent.
These are all methods to reduce the population. Euthanasia, the right to die with dignity, is for the elderly. Then there are wars, illnesses, and viruses. It should be noted that these same environmentalists feel that the population of the world has to be reduced by at least 66% in order for the earth to be sustainable. However, the brilliant research of Dr. Jacqueline Kasun from Hamboldt University has proven statistically that if you were to take all of the people in the world and put them into the State of Texas, they would have 1200 square feet of space each.
Even before the people of the world understood the threat to world population, the Group of Seven, now the Group of Eight world leaders stated in their 1981 communique that they were “deeply concerned about the implication of world population growth.” In 1990, they commended the forthcoming 1992 Rio Earth Summit and in 1992, they wrote, “The Earth Summit has been a landmark in heightening the consciousness of the global environmental challenges and in creating a world-wide partnership on development and the environment.”
It was at the 1992 UNCED conference that sustainable development was unveiled. Interestingly to note, there was a very strong and powerful corporate lobby that had come together to support this evil agenda of control. Called the World Business Council for Sustainable Development-WBCSD, they still exert great power and influence on the international level. The WBCSD has nurtured and expanded sustainable development-all the way to the ten year follow-up of UNCED in 2004 at the World Summit for Sustainable Development in Johannesburg.
In Johannesburg, sustainable development evolved to a much higher level. There many of the same people who were involved ten years previous were present, along with some new players which included Congressman Dennis Kuchinich and others, along with former governor of California Jerry Brown. The Bush Administration put forth a World Summit Vision Statement that said in part
We believe sustainable development begins at home and is supported by effective domestic policies and international partnerships. We recognize poverty remains a global problem of huge proportions that demands our action.
To fulfill its commitment, our government is spending $970 million over three years which will be used to leverage private monies to generate more than $1.6B for water-related and other activities globally. Projects included: Clean Energy, an Initiative to Cut Hunger, sustainable forest management and monies to help fight AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria.
The centerpiece of Johannesburg was the launching of “International Sustainable Development Law” that will govern the implementation and legal rights of sustainable development. This new discipline is based on poverty alleviation and the rights of the marginalized (socialistic transfer of wealth mechanisms).
Over 150 environmental lawyers and those from other related disciplines met in Durban, South Africa a week before to discuss the integration of environmental, economic, and social laws into one new discipline. There were policy papers put forth which they hoped would be used as the framework for a Treaty on International Sustainable Development Law. Their actions reaffirmed Chapter 39 of Agenda 21 which recognizes the need to continue progressive development and codification of international law related to sustainable development. It should be noted that these laws will be incorporated into every local and national level of law worldwide.
For those of us with Christian values, this is the anti-thesis of what we believe for sustainable development is pagan. It perverts Genesis 1, 2, and 3 in that it puts the earth as being dominant over man and not man as having dominance over the earth-hence, you and I have no value since we have been demoted to the same value as an animal or plant. So what do you think is the end result of international sustainable development law? Enslavement.
Now who were THE players behind the birthing of sustainable development? To my surprise, it was Prince Charles. Not happy with the Christian faith, Charles turned to “para- psychology” which some define as “dabbling in the occult.” He was greatly influenced by the South African-born writer, explorer, and mystic Laurens van der Post who was a friend of his grandmother, the Queen Mother. The prince was also influenced by James Lovelock, a British scientist who formulated the “Gaia hypothesis, which today is known as the worship of the earth, a belief based on the Greek goddess Gaia, the Earth Mother. Charles concurs with the perversion of Genesis 1, 2, and 3.
Most people will not find Prince Charles or his environmental activities in the headlines of major newspapers. Nor do his biographies really explain his involvement, as there is basically a blackout on what he is really doing worldwide. In April 1991, fourteen months before UNCED, the Prince held a private two day international conference aboard the royal yacht Britannia, moored off the coast of Brazil. His goal was to bring together key international figures in an attempt to achieve a degree of harmony between the various countries that would happen at the Rio Earth Summit. Then Senator Al Gore was present, along with senior officials from the World Bank, chief executives from companies such as Shell and British Petroleum, the key NGO’s, and other officials.
Several years ago, I had the opportunity to interview Maurice Strong and specifically asked him about this meeting. He told me he was in London at a World Wildlife meeting hosted by Prince Philip and was asked by Prince Charles to accompany him to Rio for the April 1991 meeting. Furthermore, in 1990 when sustainable development had just been formulated by the Brundtland Commission, it was the prince who commended them for “bringing the term ‘sustainable development’ into everyone’s vocabulary.”
As sustainable development has evolved to the point where the teaching of Agenda 21 is called “Earth Sciences” in schools, universities, and colleges, our government has instituted Agenda 21 through the Presidents Commission on Sustainable Development. Throughout the U.S., there are cities that have adopted Agenda 21 and there are those that are now sustainable, such as “Sustainable Racine.” We must remember Russia did not fall to the communists all at once-it was city by city.
I wrote Prince Charles the Sustainable Prince in 1997 with major updates in 1998 and 2000. It is key and relevant for those who want to understand what is happening today. At every turn the Prince is still involved in the affairs of the United Nations, sustainable development, and public-private partnership. The Prince’s representatives are to be found at all the key global meetings, expounding and advancing this life changing philosophy. Perhaps we should wonder why the world still follows him and carries out his dictates.
For ten years, various activists have been warning and educating about sustainable development. Who do we go to? The church has been silent. Major “conservatives” have been silent. No one has even questioned President Bush about his support for sustainable development. It is not even a key issue in this election.

This article is absurd. Trying to equate “Christian” values with destroying our planet is insanity: “For those of us with Christian values, this is the anti-thesis of what we believe for sustainable development is pagan. It perverts Genesis 1, 2, and 3 in that it puts the earth as being dominant over man and not man as having dominance over the earth-hence, you and I have no value since we have been demoted to the same value as an animal or plant.” What?!!! Protecting our environment from pollution and destruction is simply common sense. Just as any sane person who values themselves and their family would clean their house, we all need to keep our planet clean and safe for ourselves and future generations. I would think that anyone who believes that God created Earth would have the respect to take care of this amazing creation!

    • LHay says:

You’re right. It is idiotic! This article is informing the public of this absurdity. When written in 2004, I would have been puzzled. But now, the “Sustainable” plan is everywhere with local people following its mandates, placing a tortoise, an owl, a pocket gopher above the owners of private property. The sustainable plan is in every county across the US. Check your local government for “Smart Growth”, “Growth Management”, “Comprehensive Management Plan”, as well as “Sustainable Plan”. Read “Behind the Green Mask” by Rosa Koire.

To “save the environment”, people are getting brainwashed and do not see the “take-over” of natural resources and destruction of our freedoms and natural rights. How many of us get emails from ‘wildlife’ organizations pleading with us to feel upset and save an adorable animal species? They appeal through the heart and make you care. I watched little children who were brought to a Public Hearing to sing and say, “Please save our environment! Please pass laws to save nature!”.

Then, I heard two Planners at a county Planning Department meeting speak on microphones, “When will people learn, we have to stack and pack people and schools!”!

      • Bernadette says:

Sorry, you totally missed my point. While it may be true that some people are trying to use the “green movement” to gain control of the world, just as Christian churches have used their movement to gain control in the past (and it seems some still have that wish), a more compelling truth is that we have been destroying our environment at an alarming rate. Hundreds of toxins are now found in newborn babies. Our entire food supply is being endangered with factory farming practices and GMOs. Cancer rates are at an all time high.I could go on and on with more examples, but the point is that we are endangering life on Earth as we know it, including human life. It is time to reign in the destruction, if only for our own self-preservation and, failing the populace suddenly waking up to change their ways, we need to have international laws enforced to save us from ourselves.

Sustainable simply means life can go on, as opposed to continuing in the downward spiral of destruction we have recently been caught in, particularly since the Industrial Revolution. Sustainable farming (which Prince Charles happens to espouse – not that I trust him about anything else) means safeguarding our soil so it can support life, rather than continuing to strip it of all nutrients as agribusiness farming does. Do some research on what’s been happening to our soil, the level of minerals now found in our food compared to mere decades ago, our bee populations, etc. as a result of agribusiness practices if you doubt the wisdom of sustainable organic farming.

We have to realize that we live in a world where nature is in a delicate balance. Every creature has a place in that balance, which is why the rights of property owners must be secondary to preserving the overall harmony of nature by protecting species diversity. The land is not ours to destroy, it is ours to steward (which, you will find if you do a little research, is actually the original meaning of the Genisis verse people use to justify destroying our planet).

Using “God” or “Christianity” to justify blatant greed, exploitation, and destruction of natural resources is simply pulling a smokescreen over the whole issue. God is not going to save us from ourselves after we have wreaked havoc with the balance of nature. We have free will, and with that will we can either destroy ourselves or create a sustainable future. Personally, I am working toward the sustainable option for the sake of my children and grandchildren, and yours. I hope there are enough other people out there who will do the same.

        • LHay says:

I take issue with the “we” that you speak of. Blaming all the toxic conditions on common people who have no say or power against the monopolistic corporations doing all the polluting and destruction of environment is wrong. We need to identify the source of the polluting. The biggest destroyers are corporations, fascist governments, military, and all the bankers who just want another source to call a “commodity”, so they can sell derivatives in their casino game of greed.

The “people”, the “we”, cannot stop these power mongers. Any regulation of industry, as little as it was, has been removed by the same corporate and banking powers. In the US, the FDA is loaded with former Monsanto employees, and on it goes. Government and military-industrial complex all in bed together, and they are the ones trashing the planet.

“We”, the people, humanity, have worked hard to change this and had no power to stop them. We, the people, would rather have better choices, correctly labelled food to see what is GMO or what is really organic. GMO in food should never have been allowed. If cars were not internal combustion engines, but safe, free-energy, non-toxic vehicles, all people would be very happy to drive them instead. Homes should always be made with non-toxic, self-sufficiency design with room for gardening and “backyard chickens” if desired. People should always have choices and freedom to be creative and inventive. People can be a benefit to this world if given half a chance without the “Dumbing Down of Public Education”.

Let’s call a spade, a spade. It is the Cabal that has done this against the earth, against the planet, against the people. It is the Cabal that defined “sustainable” documents and placed the blame on the people for this destruction. It is the Cabal that plans to put all people into “human population centers” and keep people under total control. What a plan! Every person numbered and surveyed by satellite cameras, probably a chip implanted (if they get away with this). Total control of humanity!

The result? The same corporate/government/military that caused the pollution and filthy destruction in the first place has control of all the natural resources of planet Earth, and the people are enslaved in “stack ’em and pack ’em” cities. The result is Communism. And people will be told what to do, have no choice, and will not be allowed to enter all the protected environmental areas. And the only food available will be what is brought to the cities by the controllers, and you can be sure that Monsanto will be a “provider” to give the humans a faster death.

This is not sustainable. Read about the UN Agenda 21. Read about ICLEI, the German headquarters for the soft-sounding “nice” approach to “Sustainability”, to One World Order, to communism for all people. Appeal to the tender spot in humanity to “save” the world, “save” animals, and people will walk right into a “live” trap.

Here is a concise explanation on the “sustainable” global plan of UN Agenda 21. This is not conspiracy. This is fact. Check your local government. How did they all get the same plan, all over the world? Where are the arguments between countries and cultures over how to do a plan for the world? Where are the lists of all the different possibilities to choose from? Nope. One Global plan = Communism. Ruled by the Cabal, of course.

          • Bernadette says:

I agree that the Cabal has an agenda to dominate the world and it may appear to be succeeding, but there are only a very few of them relative to the rest of us. It is “we” who bought their toxic products out of ignorance, laziness, or sometimes lack of alternatives. It is “we” who believed their religious dogmas of shame, misogyny, witchburning, and guilt. It is “we” who swallow their mass media propaganda and brainwashing without question. I am not saying that all of us are doing this all the time, but to some degree we are all complicit. To say we are the “common people who have no say or power against the monopolistic corporations” is abdicating our responsibility for our part in the mess. The Cabal could have absolutely no power without the cooperation, money, and support of “we the people.”

“Corporations, fascist governments, military, and all the bankers” are mainly made up of the “common people” just doing their jobs without questioning the end result. What happens when we start to ask questions? We stop buying toxic products and either do without or find a substitute product. If we all commit to only buying organic products the corporate farms and junk food industry would go bankrupt very quickly… and so would the medical system that is based on toxic drugs and surgery, because people would be a lot healthier.

If we turn off our televisions and radios when we are bombarded with fear mongering, sex, and violence designed to keep us stuck in the denser vibrations of our first two chakras, maybe we could access the personal power of our third chakra, the love of our fourth chakra, the ability to speak our truth of our fifth chakra, the intuitive insight of our sixth chakra, and the divine wisdom of our seventh chakra. Nobody is forcing “we the people” to watch that crap. “We the people” have allowed ourselves to be brainwashed, or at least a large percentage of the population appears to have done so… large enough to support the agenda of the Cabal.

It is too easy to take an “us vs. them” point of view. That way we can point our fingers at the bad guys and relieve ourselves of any responsibility to change things. We get to be the poor victims and the good guys, but that is just a lie. The fact is that the Cabal is only reflecting the sickness and imbalance within the collective consciousness, otherwise they could not continue to exist. We are all part of the problem until we clear the fear, hate, blame, greed, and belief in our limitations from ourselves. The good news is that our collective consciousness is beginning to shift. More and more of us ARE asking questions and making decisions to choose life, freedom, health, kindness, compassion and respect for each other and nature in all our dealings.

We CAN make a difference. The power really lies with us. When we buy things we are voting with every dollar to support the companies that produce what we buy, and the Cabal is dependent on having us buy the junk food, medicine, oil, plastic garbage, media propaganda, religion, etc. that keeps it growing in power.

It does take a little more work to do the research to find out who is making what. It takes a little more conviction to take a stand to support solar power, truth in journalism, organic farming, natural healing, etc.. Power is not something we are given by some external authority. It is drawn from our own inner resources of courage and conviction. It would give the Cabal nothing but delight (if they are even capable of such an uplifted emotion) to hear that “we the people” believe that we (as you stated) “cannot stop these power mongers.” Yes we can!

          • LHay says:

Bernadette, I think we are talking about the same thing, and that we have been finding out about the corruption of our world, our planet, begun long ago in our history. It has been hidden and insidious so that I cannot blame the people who are trying every day to do what they can, if they haven’t given up, yet. The potential of every human being is wonderful, and I hope many, many make it through any troubles that lie ahead. I cannot place blame on so many people who have been unaware, innocent and have not known. I have to speak up in hopes that people will not be fooled further into giving up their sovereign rights, their ability to learn, their ability to change, their ability to choose, and to hope and see a greater future before us.

I don’t see it as “us or them”. It is important to identify the perpetrators of how this world is being harmed and corrupted. Then, it is easier for people to see what is going on, to recognize how their food is being contaminated and no longer healthy, to realize that their doctors don’t have knowledge about body nutrition, just pharmaceuticals, and to wake up and see the programming of all the Media creating false realities and lies.

People are trying to be responsible every day. The word “Sustainable” has been co-opted and used to convince people that the program, the Agenda, the Global Plan is the right thing, or they are guilty of being part of the problem. People will do the right thing if they maintain personal freedom and do not fall for the UN Agenda 21 version of reality because it is the ultimate enslavement of people instead of the evolution of an enlightened humanity. I vote for Freedom into Enlightenment for all.
(Now, I’m going outside to close up the chickens for the night. This is real sustainability – to have chickens and always have eggs in the future.) 🙂

        • Problem-reaction-solution is a power play, a strategy of deception used by evil doers for millennia, to stay in control at all costs. How?

          1. Where there is no PROBLEM tyrants fabricate one [phantom enemy, false flag event, gross pollution]

          2. Tyrants manipulate mainstream media to trigger a desired public REACTION [fear based]

          3. Tyrants trick humans into giving away personal power for a deceptive SOLUTION [regulations, UN Agenda 21 masked as sustainable development, protection] paid for through taxation, and largely ‘unquestioned’ by society.

When a critical mass of humans wake up to realty and cooperate, to peacefully transform crimes against humanity and nature through profound respect for self, one another, and natural systems upon which all life depends for survival, government will no longer have an excuse or opportunity to do it for us!

UN Agenda 21/ICLEI influence on local governments [do not go it alone; align with others to expose lawlessness]

ICLEI seeks to swallow up national sovereignty by coercing local elected officials to adopt UN Agenda 21 in piecemeal fashion

What a crock of dodo. Great idea from the inbred, pedophilic, secret society, mofo’s who created it and still think they are in the 11th century.

OMG! I just went to Bryan Hall’s reblog of this article, and I found this video on the same subject of “Sustainable”, Agenda 21, but this is how it looks. “Smart Cities” being built now! This is horrible!

Jean, can you post this separately as its own real truth? People need to see this. All the nice words used for “sustainability” don’t show this. This is what Joan Veon was hoping to warn against.

I have more to say about this because these smart cities are completely gridded with dirty electricity, so bad for human health and all life forms. Nature vibrates at a frequency of 7.8 Hertz. All wireless, fiberoptics, microwave radio frequencies are so high that people will probably all die of cancer at younger and younger ages living in these places. Talk about disease clusters!!! We need to see this! I’ll be researching more about these cities.
      Thanks Jean!
      Thanks to Bryan Hall!

these same souls also believe in special privilege for them, after all they are the ones building mansions, yauhts and flying expensive jets all the time, and drilling for oil in sensitive areas of the world where there are no enviormental laws, stuff like that. oh by the way pharaoh was a real strong advocate for population control too, that is why he murdered millions of baby boys, you see woman do not form armies or revolt only the men have the strength to do so. I am sure he used some kind of lame excuse to get his people and servants to go along but ultimately it was due to fear of the tables turning on them and they become the slaves and the slaves the masters. that is what agenda 21 is all about, sustainable way to keep the slaves in a position where they cannot fight back or revolt and make them the slaves instead of the masters.

  4. LHay says:

    Hi Jean,
This is an important article, even more so today with all we have been experiencing. Any update from its author? This subject is more critical today than ever. Thanks so much for posting!
