!!! Sanctions and the ‘golden ruble’: Russia’s fight for financial sovereignty . . . This title immediately caught my interest: on our planet, we are fighting a war for our sovereignty, and I’m convinced that Putin completely understands this!
The ruble is the most gold-backed currency in the world. Can this help Russia safeguard against western economic warfare?
America’s trusted television pundits are once again screaming about how important it is to maintain sanctions against Russia.
Did they not get the memo? Russia doesn’t expect sanctions to be lifted any time soon. Instead, it’s forging its own path towards financial sovereignty.
With America now in full meltdown mode over the ongoing Trump “sanctions conspiracy” with Russia, we thought it would be prudent to ask if there is any real evidence that Russia is desperately trying to fully reintegrate itself with the western-controlled financial system, or if instead there are signs that Moscow is pursing a completely different path — one of self-sufficiency and financial sovereignty. (Maybe we are seeing signs of both.)
After all, it would only make sense for the Kremlin to conspire with Trump to remove sanctions unless it was a life-and-death situation for Russia’s economic viability. Think about it: Why would a “Kremlin puppet” make lifting sanctions his first priority, unless it was a top national security issue for Moscow?
The truth is that western sanctions cut both ways for Russia. . . .

Russian ambassador to UN Vitaly Churkin has died suddenly in New York, one day before turning 65 (Video)
The Russian Foreign Ministry says the country’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Vitaly Churkin has “died suddenly” in New York, just a day before his 65th birthday.
The ministry said in a statement on Monday that Churkin died after being taken ill at work, but gave no details on the circumstances of his death.
“We’d like to express our sincere condolences to Vitaly Churkin’s family,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said but declined to comment on reports that Churkin had been taken to hospital shortly before his death.
Earlier, Russia’s deputy UN ambassador, Vladimir Safronkov, told The Associated Press that Churkin was rushed to a hospital in New York, where he died.
His cause of death is not immediately known.
Russian news agencies cited the Kremlin spokesman as saying that President Vladimir Putin was “deeply upset” by Churkin’s death.
“The head of state highly valued Churkin’s professionalism and diplomatic talent,” Dmitry Peskov said.
Meanwhile, Farhan Haq, deputy spokesman for the UN Secretary General’s office, offered his condolences.
“We mourn Ambassador Churkin. He has been such a regular presence here that I am actually quite stunned. Our thoughts go to his family, to his friends and to his government,” he said.
Before being appointed to represent Russia at the UN on May 1, 2006, Churkin was Ambassador at Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation between 2003 and 2006.
He was Russia’s Ambassador to Canada from 1998 to 2003, Ambassador to Belgium and Liaison Ambassador to NATO and the Western European Union (WEU) between 1994 and 1998.
Churkin also served as Deputy Foreign Minister and Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation to the talks on Former Yugoslavia (1992-1994).

US intelligence services have made it clear to the media that they regularly tap the communications of the Russian ambassador to the US, says Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
“In connection with the scandal that was built up around Trump’s adviser, General Flynn, US intelligence services told journalists absolutely officially, though anonymously – that our ambassador’s [Sergey Kislyak] communications are routinely tapped,” Lavrov told journalists.
The tapping includes “his reports to Moscow about his activities in Washington,” the minister added.
[…] In Flynn’s last interview hours before the resignation, given to the Daily Caller News Foundation, he said that the call was not “about sanctions” and “there were no lines crossed.” He also called the leaks “a criminal act.”
“In some of these cases, you’re talking about stuff that’s taken off of a classified system and given to a reporter. That’s a crime,” Flynn said. “You call them leaks. It’s a criminal act. This is a crime. It’s not just a wink and a nod.”
White House reportedly investigating Deputy Chief of Staff and #NeverTrumper Kate Walsh as source of leaks
GotNews reported Sunday that one of the primary sources of the series of leaks that were designed to undermine the Trump Administration and his presidency have been coming from none other than #NeverTrumper Kate Walsh. She is being investigated as one of the primary persons of interest that have been distributing highly confidential information to sources such as The (Failing) New York Times, and others.
When TGP reached out to GotNews founder, Charles Johnson, for comment on the story he said that it was “100% reliable, I’m unwilling to reveal the primary White House sources, but Walsh was behind the leaks.”

An exclusive report in The New York Times says a lawyer for U.S. President Donald Trump has helped a pro-Russia opposition Ukrainian lawmaker submit to Trump’s administration a proposed alternative peace plan for the conflict in eastern Ukraine.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told journalists on February 20 that the report was “absurd” and that Moscow had no knowledge of the purported peace plan.

Even as ‘debate rages’ back home, British officers are STILL training Saudis in how to massacre Yemenis with ‘smart’ bombs
Russia Insider says: We don’t think we’re getting the full story, though.
This incident took place (allegedly) on Thursday, February 16. That’s four days ago. Why did it take so long to report these casualties? And did any terrorist group claim responsibility? As far as we can tell: No.
And yet, ISIS was more than happy to claim responsibility for a bombing that happened on the same day in Baghdad.
Nothing about Russian soldiers, though
